Community Action's Free to Save - Financial Literacy Service offers individuals with low-to-moderate income the opportunity to learn financial literacy skills, build habits, and transform economic goals into reality.
This service provides six weeks of financial literacy classes, with participants attending one weekly two-hour class. These modules cover foundational knowledge of the following topics:
- Values and Goals
- Income, Expenses, and Savings
- Taking on Debt and Debt Management
- Credit History Scores and Reports
- Banking and Insurance
- Managing Risk to Assets and Identity

2025 Class Schedule:
- Session 1 (Remote Night): Wednesdays, 6-8pm, January 29 – March 5
- Session 2 (In-person Day): Tuesdays, 9-11am, April 1 – May 6
- Session 3 (In-person Night): Wednesdays, 6-8pm, April 2 – May 7
- Session 4 (In-person Day): Wednesdays, 9-11am, May 21 – June 25
- Session 5 (Remote Night): Thursdays, 6-8pm, August 13 – September 17
- Session 6 (In-person Night): Thursdays, 6-8pm, October 16 – November 20
After successfully completing the financial literacy classes, participants may choose to begin our next service: Free to Save - Individual Financial Coaching.
In this service participants will work closely with one of our Free to Save Financial Coaches for up to six months. During individual financial coaching sessions, the participant will determine the focus depending on individual financial goals and needs. Popular topics have been budgeting, credit repair, and setting short- and long-term financial goals.
Participating in Individual Financial Coaching is one way to increase your position on the waiting list for our next service, Free to Save - Asset Savings and Purchase.
